The Chieftains concert at the University Concert Hall has been a highlight of the Irish World Academy’s Sionna Festical for the past two years, and so they have been invited back in 2007 to make it a hat trick. The band are artists-in-residence at the Academy and have regular interaction with the students there.
This year will be no exception, and the students of the Academy’s BA in Irish Music and Dance will perform a showcase set at the beginning of the concert. Preparations for this are well underway with the students rehearsing intensely for what will be a spectacular display of music, song and dance to open the show, before the Chieftains take over.
The concert will end with one huge session, when over sixty musicians and dancers will take to the stage for a rousing finale (Special guests Paul Brock, Enda Scahill and Ryan Molloy)
